CAMRA Beer & Cider Festival Makes a Return for their 34th Year
The beginning of the month saw the long awaited return of the Swansea Bay Beer & Cider Festival. Hosted by the Swansea & Neath branch of CAMRA, the much anticipated event is in its 34th year and we were delighted to sponsor it once again. Held in the iconic Grade One listed Brangwyn Hall, the festival is a melting pot of the best beverages around boasting over 100 real ales plus over 50 ciders and perries. There was an impressive selection from various micro and well established breweries from across the UK as well as a large range of Welsh produce. We were delighted to send some of the best Gower has to offer including Gower Gold, Gower Power, Black Diamond, Super Gold, Sunrise and Brew One.
Overall, the weekend was a huge success attracting real ale lovers from across Swansea and featured on-stage entertainment throughout the festival. Richard Lewis, our Sales Representative, attended the networking Trade Hour for local republicans, brewers and wholesalers. We caught up with Richard to see what he thought:
“I think it's great that the festival has returned after a 4 year wait....cask ale is something that is pretty much unique to the licensed trade and as such, needs to be supported to make sure it stays with us. The type of festivals showcase the broad spectrum of cask ales that are available to be enjoyed by both existing and new cask drinkers!
It's no secret that the pandemic did a huge amount of damage to the licensed on-trade. As we've come out the other side, I do believe there's been a change in people's habits, where eating & drinking out have become much more 'occasion based'. That said, at Gower Brewery we've seen another strong summer performance which tells us that the cask industry is still holding up well in our area.”
As always, our flagship golden ale, Gower Gold was loved by all. It’s the taste of your time spent with us on Gower. The flavour of holidays, weddings and sunset moments, our golden ale pairs perfectly with every Gower moment, no matter the season. We asked Richard what he thought the most important thing that brewers can offer at this time:
“I think the most important thing any brewer can offer is a quality product every single time. If you look at our best known brand, Gower Gold, it's a beer that local consumers know & love and we also see that it's a beer the tourists want to drink when they visit the area. Couple the great beer with support from our team at Gower brewery and our customers know they are in safe hands!”
We'd like to extend a special thanks to the team from CAMRA for putting on such a wonderful event - we already can't wait for next year's festival!
