As part of a new monthly feature, we’ll be giving you the stories and inspiration behind each of our beers – starting with Brew One.
Our very first brew, Brew One is our original cask ale and signalled the beginning of Gower Brewery.
Inspired by the love of great beer and the lack of a brewery on the Gower Peninsular, the idea of starting a microbrewery had been discussed many times and with the founders already running two busy pubs in the Gower, it was the natural next step.
As a result, Gower Brewery was established in September 2011. Originally based in The Greyhound Inn, a 5 barrel brew plant was installed in November 2011 with the aim of brewing on 11/11/11. Brew One was competed at 4pm on 11/11/11 and signified the start of the brewery as we know it today!
Coming in at 3.8% ABV, Brew One is more subtle than some of our other brews but that doesn’t mean it compromises on flavour. The honey coloured ale has a malty, sweet taste with pronounced floral aromas. Available in 9 gallon casks, Brew One will always be a firm favourite here at Gower Brewery.
